ASA101 – Basic Keelboat Sailing

Course Description

Duration: Two Days

Prerequisites: No previous sailing experience necessary

ASA 101 Certification: Sailors must sail a boat of approximately 20 to 27 feet in length by day in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. Knowledge of basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards. Auxiliary power operation is not required. This course alone will not certify you to charter a boat but it will provide you with a solid foundation of basic sailing.
