ASA101 – Basic Keelboat Sailing

Prerequisites: No previous sailing experience necessary

The ASA 101 Certification teaches sailors to independently handle a 20–27 foot sailboat in light to moderate conditions, covering essential skills like sailing terminology, points of sail, safety, and knots. While it provides a solid foundation in sailing, it does not certify you to charter a boat.

ASA103 – Basic Coastal Cruising

Prerequisites: ASA 101 Basic Keeling Sailing

The ASA 101 Certification teaches sailors to independently handle a 20–27 foot sailboat in light to moderate conditions, covering essential skills like sailing terminology, points of sail, safety, and knots. While it provides a solid foundation in sailing, it does not certify you to charter a boat.

ASA104 – Bareboat Chartering

Prerequisites: ASA 101 & ASA 103

The ASA 104 Certification prepares sailors to safely skipper and crew a 30’-45’ sailboat during multi-day cruises in inland or coastal waters under moderate to heavy conditions. Graduates will be qualified to charter and captain their own cruises, with training in voyage planning, heavy weather sailing, engine maintenance, and living aboard.

ASA105 – Coastal Navigation

Prerequisites: None

The ASA 105 Certification teaches navigational theory and practices for safely piloting a sailing vessel in coastal and inland waters, focusing on chart work and navigational tools. This classroom-based course covers topics like tide tables, GPS, dead reckoning, and compass corrections, with self-study recommended before attending.

ASA110- Basic Small Boat Sailing

Able to skipper a non-ballasted centerboard/daggerboard monohull or multihull sailboat of approximately 8 to 20 feet in length by day in light to moderate winds (up to 15 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of basic sailing terminology, sail trim, points of sail, crew responsibilities, seamanship and safety including capsize avoidance/recovery and navigation rules to avoid collisions.

ASA 118 – Docking Endorsement

Able to safely and efficiently dock an auxiliary powered (single inboard or outboard engine) sailboat. Knowledge of basic auxiliary power theory, engine and steering controls, proper use of dock lines, crew communication and safety.
