Bill’s easy manner and deep knowledge made this class a breeze (pun intentional). We had great wind and an eventful sail each day. Even a routine boarding and check from the coast guard occurred, which was great experience demonstrating the safety equipment required on board. I highly recommend halcyon sailing school and plan on taking more classes from Bill. I completely caught the bug, and am now in the market for a boat of my own.

I looked at three schools in the same area of Halcyon Sailing School. After a short conversation with Captain Bill over the phone, I was immediately satisfied with Halcyon’s ASA 101 offering. On the first morning of class, it didn’t take long for me to trust that I was receiving the best sailing education for this level. Captain Bill was VERY knowledgeable, and his sailing vessel was extremely seaworthy and impressive. I learned so much from Captain Bill, and I am eager to continue my sailing courses with Halcyon.

I learned from him, what the book could not teach me and now I convinced my wife to take a charter from Halcyon Sailing. We plan to have a blast.

I have been interested in learning to sail for awhile but have never been on an actual sailboat, Cpt Bill had me helm the boat the entire time on the lake and taught me some basic and advanced sailing techniques. It’s late in the season, but I’m going to try to get a lesson or two in plus another evening cruise. Cpt Bill, the weather, water and the boat were great.

A very nice marina and sailboat. Very calm atmosphere and pace for a true beginner. Restaurants nearby, classy to very affordable. Bill is a calm instructor which made every hour more enjoyable.

Halcyon Sailing is a great school with a convenient location, seaworthy equipment that is safe and maintained well. The charters are also great! It is evident that Captain Bill loves sailing, is very experienced, knowledgeable, patient and willing to share his love of sailing with his ASA students and charter customers. I was a beginner and because of Halcyon, I am now looking forward to my sailing life ahead.
